After high school, Army basic training, and a six year commitment in the reserves, I entered Ole Miss to eventually earn a BS and Masters in elementary education. In 1972 I began as a teacher at Oxford Elementary School. In August of 1972, I married the former Becky Bowen (1970 graduate of OHS). We had two children, Chris who is now 29 years old, and Caroline who is 27. Caroline has given me two grandsons ages 4 and 16 months. Chris is presently the manager of the Downtown Grill here in Oxford while Caroline and family live in Little Rock, Arkansas where she works with the Arkansas Publishing Group.
I'll begin my 34th year of public school work in July of this year. I'm presently the Principal of Oxford Elementary School. I've remained "poor but happy" down through the years! My love of children has kept me going. I anticipate retirement in a couple of more years.
Becky and I just bought our "retirement home" at 46 Aspen Loop here in Oxford. This is why I can't retire any time soon. |
