Margaret King worked with the Federal Government for over 28 years, the first nine years with the United States District Courts for the Northern District of Mississippi and the last 19 years with USDA/Rural Development, formerly Farmers Home Administration. For her final seven years, she served as the Rural Development Manager, most recently assigned to the office in Oxford, Mississippi.
During her employment with USDA she earned the two highest honors awarded by that agency: the Superior Service Award and the Distinguished Service Award. In addition, she received numerous Merit Appreciation Awards. She currently serves as Secretary of The Oxford Exchange Club, is a member of The Rotary Club of Oxford, and serves on several committees at The Oxford Chamber of Commerce.
